Wedding guru offers tips for big day
It’s all in the details when it comes to creating the perfect wedding. And once the fine tuning is done, it all comes together, said Jane Dayus-Hinch of Slice TV’s Wedding SOS. Dayus-Hinch will be appearing as keynote speaker at the 2012 Sweetheart Bridal Extravaganza Jan. 8, and will also conduct a VIP seminar Jan. 7 for 50 lucky brides. “I do [a] Plan Your Wedding In A Day seminars for brides,” said Dayus-Hinch. “So they get a wedding wall planner and we go through it – it doesn’t matter whether they’ve got two months or two years until the wedding – I go through everything with them and they’re picking up tips and hints all the way along. “So at the end of the seminar they walk away with a plan – same as I do in the show – and they can take it from there.” On Wedding SOS, Dayus-Hinch, who is one of Britain’s top wedding planners, answers the cry for help from couples whose dream wedding is turning into a nightmare. Like a fairy godmother, Dayus-Hinch grants the couple three wishes to make things right again. As keynote speaker for the Sweetheart Bridal Extravaganza, Dayus-Hinch will present something interactive, she said. “What I usually do is take two of the models, a bride and groom, and I show them how to hold the bouquet, with lots of hints and tips for the men about their vests and pocket handkerchief, how to pin their boutonnière and even how to hold hands as they go down the aisle with their new bride. “I have a laugh and a joke with the bridesmaids and I try to educate.” Dayus-Hinch said she finds brides attending shows might already have found their dress, booked the photographer and decided on the cake. “The brides are coming to the wedding fair for inspiration and ideas,” said Dayus-Hinch. “So you’ll find them wandering around not sure what favours to have at the reception. It’s the small things I find that they’re looking for, you know, so they can personalize their wedding. So if I come on there and say here are some hints and tips that you won’t find in magazines and books – that’s what they seem to appreciate and enjoy the most. There’s no classes in what to do on your wedding day.” Everyone is wearing things they don’t ordinarily wear and there are so many things to be considered, she added. “I could do a whole seminar on the catwalk and if then you want to come have a chat with me about something personal or even just to have a photograph taken with me, I do that, too,” said Dayus-Hinch. “I’m very excited to come to Prince George. I’ve been to Vancouver and Vancouver Island and only got as far as Banff. I’ve been to Montreal and Toronto in summer so I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like in the snow.”
